AI operating layer
An AI operating layer is the visible set of workflows, tool roles, information boundaries, owners, review rules, records, and exit decisions around AI-assisted work. It is an operating design, not a claim that one product is the business platform.
AI workflow map
An AI workflow map shows the trigger, source information, handoffs, proposed AI-assisted step, reviewer, final owner, official destination, exception path, and stop condition for one repeatable piece of work.
AI tool role
A useful AI tool role is one approved job within a defined workflow, such as drafting, retrieving approved material, organizing a handoff, or checking a structured output, with a named owner and an explicit boundary on what the tool may do.
System-of-record boundary
The boundary states where official customer, financial, employee, operational, or contractual information remains authoritative; what approved information may enter an AI workspace; and how a reviewed result returns to the official system.
Human release check
A human release check is the required pause where an authorized person compares the source and draft, checks facts, omissions, commitments, information boundaries, and downstream effects, then approves, corrects, rejects, or escalates the result.
Bounded platform pilot
A bounded platform pilot names one workflow, participants, tool role, allowed information, reviewer, official destination, review period, evidence questions, cost owner, and exit path before the trial begins.
